Landlords can now go live with just a phone number — a photo ID upload is optional for now and can be added any time for an extra badge.
Renters can message a landlord after verifying their phone number alone, with an optional ID upload for a "quality verified" badge.
Added a "who's moving in?" question to the renter profile, and a clear way to reset your profile or start over.
On desktop, Messages now shows your conversation list and an open conversation side by side.

September 3–6, 2026

Renters now build a quick verified profile (phone number plus a few questions) the first time they message a landlord, so landlords see a real name and some context, not a stranger.
Refined the renter profile with a school choice for students and a full profile view for landlords.

September 2–3, 2026

Added a real amenities section to listings — building features, in-unit extras, outdoor space, and pet details.
Fixed a bug where a landlord with one listing had no visible way to add a second.

September 1–2, 2026

Password guidance now shows up right on the sign-up page, reflecting Norlease's real password rules.
Simplified the mobile navigation bar.

August 27–29, 2026

Norlease is now available in French.
Added "save this search" so you can revisit a filtered search later.
Sign-up now collects your name and starts phone verification right away, and starting from "List your place" takes you straight to sign-up instead of sign-in.

Added a Terms of Service, a Privacy Policy, and a renter safety guide.
Added a "Report this listing" option on every listing page.
Added dedicated browsing pages for common searches, like near Nipissing, near Canadore, 2-bedroom apartments, and all-inclusive rentals.

A landlord's listing now goes live immediately once verified, instead of waiting on manual approval (every listing is still reviewed after the fact).
Redesigned search's filters into one panel with clear-all and sort options.
Map pins were redesigned, and tapping one now shows a small preview card for that listing.
Added the ability to save listings you're interested in.
Added real-time in-app messaging between renters and landlords, including photo sharing.
Landlords with an existing listing now see a clear "List another place" button.

Becoming a landlord now asks for your first, middle, and last name separately, and starts your phone verification code the moment you submit, no second screen asking for your number again.
ID verification now accepts a passport or provincial photo ID card, not just a driver's license.

Added dedicated tutorial pages showing exactly how to list a place and what happens to your ID during review.
Nearby-landmark suggestions (schools, churches, parks) now come from real map data for your street, not a fixed list of four options.
Every card on the site now shares one consistent, polished look.

The homepage is now the real, live search experience, with map, list, and filters.
The search bar in the header actually searches now, and forgives typos.
Added an About page: what Norlease is, how verification works, and how to get in touch.
Addresses shown to the public are now approximate by design, protecting a landlord's exact address while still helping renters judge distance to campus, downtown, or the hospital.

Added an interactive map to search, with real walking and driving time estimates to campus, downtown, and the hospital.
Added search filters: price, bedrooms, pets, parking, laundry, and whether heat is included.

August 15–16, 2026

Every listing now has its own public page: full photo gallery, map, amenities, and a verified badge.
Landlords can manage their own listings, including removing one themselves.
